Specification calculation system. Calculations became 24× faster
The knowledge required to calculate specifications lived in one engineer’s head. We formalized the rules, automated the calculation, and connected it to inventory.
Production depended on one person
Each machine requires dozens of component positions to be calculated. One engineer handled that work from memory and experience — about two hours per order.
Until the calculation is ready, production waits. An error means unnecessary purchasing or downtime because of a missing part. If the engineer is unavailable, the process effectively stops.
Expert calculation turned out to be a set of rules
We analyzed the history of real machines and found consistent relationships between machine parameters and component configurations. What looked like unique expert knowledge turned out to be logic that could be formalized.
The system calculates the specification and checks inventory immediately
The engineer enters the machine parameters. The system creates the full specification using consistent rules, checks component availability, and shows what needs to be purchased. The production manager reviews and approves the result.
People remain responsible for the engineering decision — only the repetitive manual work disappeared.
A consistent five-minute calculation with inventory checking
Orders no longer wait in line for one specialist
The knowledge is captured in the system, calculations follow the same rules every time, and production receives the information needed to start orders and purchase components faster.
Is there a process that depends on one employee?
We will determine whether that knowledge can be moved from one person’s head into a working system without losing control.
